Behind the flowers…
Meet Tara:
Hi! I’m Tara, the woman behind Petal & Pistil Flower Farm. Growing and creating with flowers is my passion and I feel so fortunate to share that joy with you!
This little farm sits on our home property off Mullan Road in Missoula, MT. It turns out you can grow a lot of beautiful flowers in a small space. Each year I’ve expanded and maximized my growing space as much as possible, and yet there is still always more room to grow.
Outside the farm, you might also know me from my part time work as a Pelvic Physical Therapist. I wear both hats proudly and I love having this balance in my life.
Petal & Pistil was first started during the winter of 2024 with the dream of growing beautiful flower bouquets to share. Since then, a lot has changed but the passion behind the flowers remains the same. Our flowers are all grown right here on our home property that we have turned into a small scale flower farm. The growing space is ever changing and expanding to meet the demands of my dreams. Since space is at a premium, each flower variety is very thoughtfully selected to provide a selection of premium blooms in a variety of color pallets throughout the season.
The Farm
Before
Before I fell in love with flower farming, this space was simply a grass lawn with a humble veggie garden. That garden is where I learned the basics of growing and starting plants from seed. After 20 years of veggie gardening, I slowly added in more flowers to the beds. Now the space is 95% flowers, with just enough room left for a few of our favorite veggies to eat.

Meet the Farmer Family
Petal & Pistil Flower Farm wouldn’t be what it is without the help and support of family. Tara is married to Bob, who is truly the best farm hand anyone could ask for. Not only does he take care of the heavy lifting, but he is quick to offer help wherever its needed, and often does it with a smile. We also have two grown kids who pitch in with marketing, social media consulting and general advice-giving. Teenagers are remarkably good at that!
